I think one of my goldfish is ill - A blister-like bump...?
...appeared two days ago on the right side of its body, slightly below its pectoral fin. Gold Bullion A.K.A Bully is as active and greedy as ever; is the largest of three fish in a giant bowl; has not, as yet, 'infected' Nugget or Black Gold, A.K.A Oilo. SOMEBODY HELP!
For those who might be considering setting the USPCA on my arse - My goldfish live in a giant bowl that has 3 filtration systems that also pump air through their water. There is also an abundance of plastic plantlife to naturalise their habitat. The experts at the petstore said that such conditions are ideal.
It could be a tumor, or an external parasite. Keep an eye on it. If it's a tumor, there's nothing you can do, but if it's a parasite, all your fish will have it and you'll need to medicate.
Also, you should NEVER keep goldfish in a bowl, even a large one. If your fish are fancy goldfish, they'll need a 50 gallon tank at least. If they're single-tailed fish, they'll need a 150+ gallon tank. Keeping your fish in a bowl will definitely contribute to poor health, and it will also doom them all to an early death.
[edit] I'm sorry, but the words "experts" and "pet store" in the same sentence made me laugh. How many gallons does this "giant bowl" hold? Because if the answer is less than 50 gallons...it's too small, no matter HOW much filtration you have.
