What is better for a navel ring, surgical steel or gold?

I have sensitive skin and I was just wondering
I went to a jeweler and they said surgical steel because it has a lower nickel content than gold, but i had always used gold in my ears.

if you know the answer, that would be very helpful.

First off barbell is better i think for navel.
Eithir are fine really. Gold is probably the much better choice as it doesnt change color and very very few are allergic to it, make sure its real and not platted though that can cause major problems problems.
